[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page discussion of the ancient and historic subjugation of women. Points out change became a particularly obvious part of the Victorian Era. Concludes that different women took different approaches to effect the changes which they saw as necessary in regard to their traditional gender roles in the Victorian Era. While many chose to stay in the home in the same role they had occupied for years, others sought jobs, and still others sought education. In comparison to the women's movement which we know today, the women's movement of this earlier time was muted to say the least. Never-the-less progress was made and women slowly began to carve their own niche into society as a whole. Bibliography lists 1 source.
